MADISON, Wis. — After a successful weekend at No. 10 Minnesota Duluth, the Wisconsin men's hockey team is back home at the Kohl Center for a Big Ten conference series against a ranked Penn State on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29.

Here are six quick things to know before tuning in:

Rosters: Badgers || Penn State

1 - SWEEP, SWEEP, VICTORY:  The Badgers earned a pair of wins at then-No. 10 Minnesota Duluth last weekend with a perfect weekend of five-on-five play. Wisconsin battled back Friday night after trailing 1-0 in the first period to win 5-2, then followed up with a 3-0 win on Saturday to complete a sweep of the series.

The Badgers extended their unbeaten streak against UMD to eight games (7-0-1) and winning streak to six against the Bulldogs.  It marked UW's first road sweep against a top-10 team since winning 4-1 and 8-1 at No. 2 Minnesota on Feb. 5-6, 2021.

2 - HE IS THE MOE-MENT: Senior goaltender Jared Moe made 35 saves in the Badger's 3-0 win against UMD for his second career shutout. He stopped 73 of 75 shots on the weekend to earn him Big Ten Second Star of the Week honors.

3 - CAREER FIRSTS: Two Badgers found the back of the net against UMD for their first career goals as Badgers.

Freshman and 2023 draft prospect Charlie Stramel came to UW as one of the most highly anticipated recruits. He proved his skill with his first career goal in the first period against Minnesota Duluth on Friday night. Stramel netted an equalizer to set the tone for the rest of the game and help lift UW to a 5-2 win.

Junior transfer forward Ty Smilanic is also no stranger to scoring, having racked up 27 goals in two seasons at Quinnipiac. Smilanic netted his first goal in the Cardinal and White on the power play in the third period Friday night.

4 - GO WITH GORNIAK: Graduate forward Jack Gorniak led the roster with four points on the series for a new career record. On Friday, he netted the game-winning goal in the second period and tallied assists on Ty Smilanic's power-play goal and Owen Lindmark's empty-netter. The following game, he sunk an empty-net goal to finish Wisconsin's 3-0 shutout win.

5 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!: It's spooky season at the Kohl Center! All fans are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes.

On Friday night, the first 1,000 students will receive a Bucky-Halloween themed T-shirt.

Saturday will feature pregame trick-or-treating by Gate A with Bucky and the Spirit Squad! All fans are encouraged to bring their own clear plastic bags to participate.
