Badgers dropped by Penn State

Moe makes 39 saves in goal

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's hockey team fell to Penn State in their series finale Saturday night at the Kohl Center.

Penn State (8-0-0, 2-0-0 0-0-0 Big Ten) found the back of the net three minutes into the first period with a goal by Connor McMenamin and assisted by Xander Lamppa. Lamppa retrieved the puck in Penn State's zone and sent a pass up the ice for McMenamin. He took a shot and recovered the rebound before wrapping around the Badgers (2-6-0, 0-4-0 0-0-0 Big Ten) net and picking the short-side top corner for a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, Penn State took a 2-0 lead just 56 seconds into the third period. Ashton Calder scored from the right side of the ice on the power play, assisted by McMenamin and Ben Schoen.

Lamppa put Penn State up 3-0 at 9:35 in the third period when he tapped in a second rebound on the edge of the crease, with help from Alex Servagno and Tyler Paquette.

Connor MacEachern netted an empty-net goal in the final two minutes to seal the game at 4-0.
