Badgers tame Lions for third-straight victory

Jugnauth nets first career goal in 4-3 win

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's hockey team skated to their third-straight victory with a 4-3 win over Lindenwood on Friday at the Kohl Center.

The Badgers overcame an early Lindenwood goal and an own-goal that put them behind 3-2 early in the third period for the victory. Freshman defenseman Tyson Jugnauth's first career goal proved the difference.

Lindenwood (4-9-0 Independent) got on the scoreboard two minutes into the first period when Caleb Price got past goaltender Kyle McClellan with a backhand deke, set up by Andy Willis.

The Lions' lead was short-lived. Less than two-minutes later, Zach Urdahl found the back of the net from just above the goal line to tie the score at one a piece. Owen Lindmark passed to Mike Vorlicky on the point who fired a shot and set up a rebound for Urdahl to hammer in the net.

The Badgers (5-8-0, 0-6-0 0-0-0 Big Ten) headed into the second period with a 2-1 lead thanks to a one-timer from Brock Caufield, assisted by Liam Malmquist.

Drew Kuzma, fresh out of the penalty box, tied the score for Lindenwood midway through the second period. David Gagnon rushed the puck into the Badger's zone and directed the puck in front of the net for Kuzma to tap in.

The Badgers and Lions skated into the third period tied 2-2.

With Lindenwood on the power play, took the lead after the puck ended up in the Badger's net due to a misfired pass on a delayed Lion's penalty, credited to Joe Prouty.

Corson Ceulemans, in his first game back since injury, tied the game with a power-play goal in the 10th minute of the third period. Defenseman Tyson Jugnauth centered a pass to Carson Bantle who sent the puck back to Ceulemans in the slot.

Wisconsin took a 4-3 lead when Jugnauth notched his first career goal on the power play at 12:56 in the third period. Caufield got control of the puck deep in the Lion's zone and connected with Ceulemans on the hash marks. He found Jugnauth on the point who took a few strides in before teeing up the winning shot.

The Badgers held onto their lead to takedown Lindenwood, 4-3, for their third-straight victory at the Kohl Center.
