Badgers trample Lions, 5-1

Wisconsin wins fourth-straight contest

MADISON, Wis. — Cruz Lucius had four points and Wisconsin scored four special-teams goals to power to a a 5-1 victory over Lindenwood at the Kohl Center on Saturday for their fourth consecutive win. 

Owen Lindmark gave the Badgers a 1-0 lead at 6:46 in the first period with his second short-handed goal of the season and NCAA-leading sixth of his career. Jack Horbach won a puck battle behind the Lion's net and found Lindmark alone all in front where he beat goaltender Matt Ladd blocker side. 



Wisconsin (6-8-0 0-6-0 0-0-0 Big Ten) went up 2-0 in the second period when Cruz Lucius scored his first of the night on the power play. Zach Urdahl connected with Charlie Stramel behind the net who set up Lucius on the point. Stramel provided a screen and Lucius took a few strides in before picking the top corner. 



A series of penalties led to a four-on-three Badger powerplay in the final two minutes of the second period and the Badgers took advantage. Corson Ceulemans found the back of the net on a one-timer from Cruz Lucius and Tyson Jugnauth to give the Badgers a three-goal lead heading into the third period. 



Wisconsin got another four-on-three advantage in the third period. Goaltender Jared Moe stopped the puck behind the net for Ceulemans who dropped a pass back for Lucius. He skated the puck into the offensive zone before lining up a shot for his second goal of the night.



Lindenwood (4-10-0 Independent) got on the board with 2:54 remaining in the third period on the power play. Jack Anderson scored with help from Joe Prouty and Cade Destefani.

The Badgers weren't done yet. With 1:28 remaining, Carson Bantle hammered in a one-timer from Lucius and Ben Dexheimer to make the final score 5-1 in favor of Wisconsin.



The Badger's victory over Lindenwood marks their second-straight series sweep and fourth consecutive win.

  • Cruz Lucius' two-goal and four-point night marked UW's first four-point game since Linus Wiessbach at Ohio State on Feb. 27, 2021.
  • Carson Bantle scored his first goal of the season
  • Corson Ceulemans tallied a goal and an assist for two points
  • Goaltender Jared Moe notched his first Wisconsin assist
  • Owen Lindmark is tied for the NCAA lead with six short-handed goals
