SAN DIEGO — The Wisconsin men's tennis team put up a fight against No. 13-ranked Harvard in San Diego but couldn't come away with a win Tuesday. The Badgers (6-6) fell to the Crimson (9-3) by a 6-1 score while battling some heat and sun in their first outdoor match of the season.
The Badgers gave the Crimson a run for their money in doubles play. Sophomore
Mihailo Popovic made his debut after months battling a wrist injury and joined with partner
Lenard Soha to grab UW's only doubles win of the afternoon with a 6-2 dismantling of Harvard's Henry von der Schulenburg and Steven Sun.
In singles, senior
Sebastian Vile fought throughout his match and was able to grab a victory for the Badgers at the No. 4 position. After dropping his first set, Vile came back to take the second 6-4. A third-set tiebreaker ensued and Vile took the victory in an exciting back-and-forth 14-12 win over Harvard's Steven Sun.
