MADISON, Wis. — Coming off a standout sophomore season, Wisconsin men's basketball guard
Johnny Davis announced Thursday that he is officially declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft.
A consensus All-American, the Big Ten player of the year, and finalist for every major national player of the year award, Davis averaged 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while leading the Badgers to a share of the Big Ten regular season title.

"I will forever cherish the experiences I had and the relationships I built during my time in Madison and I am so thankful I chose to be a Badger," Davis said in
a statement on social media. "With that being said, I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream and will be declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft. I am so grateful for the support everyone has given me, for the opportunities basketball has brought into my life, and for the chance to continue to play the game I love."
A projected lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, Davis looks to become the first Badger drafted since Frank Kaminsky (9th overall) and Sam Dekker (18th overall) were each selected in the 2015 NBA Draft.
"We are so proud of Johnny and excited for his future in professional basketball," head coach
Greg Gard said in
a statement on social media. "He is one of the best to ever play at Wisconsin and wearing that Wisconsin uniform meant a lot to him. We're grateful for everything he has done for this program and can't wait to follow his success in the NBA. He will be a tremendous representative for the entire state of Wisconsin at the next level."
The NBA Draft Combine (May 16-22) and the NBA Draft Lottery (May 17) will both be held in Chicago, Illinois. The 2022 NBA Draft will take place Thursday, June 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
