MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team continues its outdoor season this weekend with most of the team traveling to the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Oregon. Select Badgers will also compete in the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Indiana. Both meets compete on Friday and Saturday.

Here are five events to watch this weekend.
1. HAMMER TIME: Three Badger hammer throwers rank in the top 17 of the Big Ten this season. Cole Hooper leads that list, ranking 13th with a throw of 199 feet, 0 inches. Transfer Sam Coil is ranked 15th, throwing a personal best of 197-1. His throw ranks seventh all time at Wisconsin. Redshirt senior Dan Ufearo, who ranks 17th in the Big Ten this season, threw a personal best of 193-9 earlier this season, putting him eighth at Wisconsin. Redshirt freshman Jason Swarens will also be competing in the hammer this weekend.
2. 1-2 LAPS TO GO: Sophomore Abdullahi Hassan held the fastest time in the Big Ten in the 800 meters during the 2021 outdoor season, running a personal best of 1 minute, 47.90 seconds. Hassan has run only one 800 this season, ranking 10th in the Big Ten in 1:49.22. Also scheduled to compete in the 800 is freshman Adam Spencer and sophomore Davis Wenthe.
3. BADGERS VS. THE 5K: The Badger distance runners open their outdoor season, aiming to clinch top spots in the invitational and open 5,000 meters on Friday. Grad student Olin Hacker opens up his outdoor season this weekend after winning the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters at the 2022 Big Ten Indoor Championships, and finishing fourth in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Evan Bishop ranks among the top-10 runners in the Big Ten this season, running a personal best time of 13:55.37, ranking sixth in the Big Ten. Senior Charlie Wheeler is also scheduled to compete in the 5K after finished fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, running a personal best of 13:57.61. Also scheduled to compete are Shuaib Aljabaly, Rowen Ellenberg, Seth Hirsch, Bob Liking and Jackson Sharp.
4. UP IN THE AIR: In the field events, Wisconsin's pole vaulters and triple jumpers look to move up in the Big Ten this weekend. In the pole vault, redshirt sophomore Chandlar Ifft ranks 16th in the Big Ten with a season best of 16-0 3/4. th this season in the Big Ten in the men's Pole Vault , with a personal best of 16-0 ¾ . Canon Melstrand is tied for 17th in the Big Ten season with a clearance of 15-11. In the triple jump, Connor Barfknecht is ranked 12th in the conference with a personal best of 48-5 ¼ while Peyton Frankenreider ranks 13th with a leap of 47-9 ¼ .
5. RELAYS ON THE WAY: The Badgers are scheduled to compete in the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay this weekend. Possible entries in the shorter relay are Elliott Harris, Colin Enz, Max Peckenschneider, Robbie Hatch, Lawrence Johnson and Wenthe. Possible entries in the 4x400-meter relay are Enz, Hatch, Peckenschneider, Hassan, Wenthe, and Harris.
