FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Four members of the Wisconsin men's track and field team booked their tickets to the NCAA Championships on Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
Junior
Lawrence Johnson led the way, qualifying for the national meet in two events. The Waunakee native finished fourth in the 100 meters, running a personal best time of 10.08 seconds. Johnson also advanced in the 200 meters, finishing 11th overall and third in his heat in 20.54 to automatically progress.
Freshman
Adam Spencer had an impressive showing in the 1,500 meters, finishing second in 3:38.24 to qualify for his first national championship as an individual. He was a member of the Badgers third-place distance medley relay at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships. Junior
Jackson Sharp missed a qualifying mark by just two places in the 1,500 meters, finishing 14th in 3:43.50.
Sophomore
Abdullahi Hassan will compete in his second-straight NCAA Outdoor Championship, qualifying in the 800 meters. He finished fourth in his heat and 10th overall in 1:47.75 to qualify on time.
Madison native
Olin Hacker placed second in his heat of the 5,000 meters to automatically qualify for his second straight outdoor national championship. Hacker crossed the line in 13:38.44 to progress to the NCAA meet with the ninth-fastest overall time.
