UW fights back to draw Michigan 1-1

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Wisconsin men's soccer remains unbeaten in conference play after battling the Michigan Wolverines to a 1-1 tie on the road. Wisconsin faced a 1-0 deficit after the first half but fought back to score in the second.

How It Happened:
The first half went mostly scoreless, until minute 41, when two Michigan attackers found themselves in Wisconsin's box. Nate Crockford saved the first shot attempt, but Michigan's Joao Paulo Ramos scored on the rebound to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.

Wisconsin found themselves back in the game during minute 61 of the second half. Maxwell Keenan's cross made its way to the other side of the field, where a streaking Birgir Baldvinsson kicked a strike to Thomas Raimbault, who buried a redirect from right in front of the Michigan net.

Keeper Nate Crockford made some great saves throughout the game, with one of the standouts occurring in the 21st minute. Crockford deflected the shot from a Michigan attacker, before Ryan Quintos blocked the rebound attempt and the Badgers ultimately took away possession.

Crockford's most important save came in the 85th minute, saving a Michigan shot from outside the Wisconsin box that would've been the go-ahead goal with less than five minutes remaining.

Both teams' attempts to win came up short, with the game ending in a draw. Both teams' conference record go to 1-0-3, while Wisconsin's overall record moves to 4-2-4.

Key Notes:

Thomas Raimbault scored the game-tying goal for Wisconsin, nabbing him his first score of the season. The sophomore transferred from UCLA with teammates Nate and Charlie Crockford.
Birgir Baldvinsson got the assist on the Badger goal. It was his first assist of the season and his third point in three games. Baldvinsson scored against Northwestern and also took a shot against Maryland that resulted in a score but did not pick up an assist.
As of this moment, Wisconsin's six points ties them with Michigan for third place in the Big Ten. Northwestern and Penn State are tied for first with seven points each.
