Badgers take down Robert Morris

Blackwell, Wahl and Crowl score in double figures

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's basketball team warded off a tough Robert Morris team at the Kohl Center on Friday night, earning a 68-58 victory.

John Blackwell and Tyler Wahl scored 18 points each to lead four Badgers in double figure scoring. Steven Crowl added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Chucky Hepburn finished with 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.

The Badgers (2-2 overall) led by just two points at halftime, 37-35, but pulled away in the second frame behind Blackwell's big second half. All 18 of Blackwell's career-high points came in the second half, including 13 in the final 10 minutes of the game to extend UW's lead to double-digits.

Wisconsin showed its authority attacking the rim, as 42 of its 78 points came in the paint.

The Badgers also drew a heap of fouls in the process, going 27-for-40 from the free-throw line, and forcing Robert Morris into double bonus within the first ten minutes of the game.

Wahl led the way early, scoring eight of the team's first 19 points while collecting his 1,000th career point in the process. Wahl became the 48th Badger to join the 1,000-point club.

Wahl finished the game with a season-high 18 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field.

Despite being outscored 42-to-16 in the paint, Robert Morris (1-3 overall) stayed in the game thanks to its 3-point shooting, going 13-for-29 from beyond the arc

Jackson Last scored a team-high 16 points for the Colonials.

Wisconsin forced 21 turnovers in the game, with eight different Badger's collecting a steal led by three swipes from Hepburn.

Up next, the Badgers travel to Florida for the Fort-Myers Tip-Off event. Wisconsin is set to face Virginia on Monday at 5 p.m. (CT).
