1. FORT MYERS TIP-OFF

Wisconsin is headed to Fort Myers, Fla. for the sixth annual Fort Myers Tip-Off. The highly anticipated tournament begins Monday, with the event featuring Wisconsin, SMU, Virginia and West Virginia. 

The Badgers will open the tournament against Virginia on Monday at 5 p.m. (CT) on FS1. The winner of that matchup will advance to the championship game, while the loser will play in the third place game. Both these games will take place on Wednesday. 

All games will be held at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Florida.

2. ALL TIME vs. VIRGINIA

Wisconsin and Virginia will meet for the seventh time on Monday at the Fort Myers Tip-Off in Florida. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series, 4-2, including a 2-1 advantage at neutral sites.

UW and UVA last met in the championship game of the 2018 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament. No. 4 Virginia earned a 53-46 win over No. 25 Wisconsin in that game.

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard and Virginia head coach Tony Bennett served two seasons together as assistant coaches on Wisconsin's staff (2002 and 2003). Tony Bennett is the son of former UW head coach, Dick Bennett, who lead the Badgers to the 2000 Final Four.

3. SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

The Cavaliers are a perfect 4-0 to start the season. Virginia is coming off of a 62-33 win against Texas Southern on Thursday.

Sophomore Ryan Dunn, sophomore Isaac McKneely, and senior Reece Beekman are all averaging 10-plus points per game this season. Dunn is coming off of back-to-back games leading the team in points. He scored 15 against Texas Southern and 13 against North Carolina A&T. 

Virginia may not currently be ranked at the moment by the Associated Press, but it received 49 votes in the most recent rankings.

4. WAHL HITS 1,000 POINTS

Fifth-year senior forward Tyler Wahl recently reached the 1,000 career point milestone with Wisconsin in Friday's game against Robert Morris. The Lakeville, Minn., native finished the game with a season-high 18 points to bring his career total to 1,010 points. 

Wahl is the 48th Badger to reach this threshold and the seventh player under head coach Greg Gard to reach this accomplishment. Additionally, Wahl is just the eighth player in program history to reach 1,000+ points, 500+ rebounds and 200+ assists. 

5. HITTING THE PAINT

Wisconsin was aggressive in getting inside the paint and scoring against Robert Morris, as the team enjoyed a 42-to-16 edge in points in the paint. 

On top of that, the Badgers shot a total of 40 free throws against the Colonials. Wisconsin has attempted 20 or more free throws in three of its first four games this season. UW holds a record of 69-18 under head coach Greg Gard when attempting at least 20 free throws in a game.
