MADISON, Wis. – Continuing the celebration of its 75th season presented by RBC Wealth Management, the Wisconsin men's hockey team will host a special 'Goalie Night' on Saturday, Dec. 2, when the Badgers take on Ohio State at 8 p.m.
Wisconsin Hockey is "Goalkeeper U"; from greats like Brian Elliott, Marc Behrend, Curtis Joseph, Jim Carey, Mike Richter and many more, we will take a night to honor all our goaltenders.
The evening will commence with a special puck drop ceremony with the only person to be a part of all six UW national championship teams, goaltending coach Bill Howard.
There will also be a special 'Mask Walk' where masks from Badger goalies throughout program history will be on display in the concourse behind section 107. The walk will include masks from goaltenders from the 1960s to present day and NHL greats Brian Elliott and Wayne Thomas, national champions Mike Dibble, Julian Baretta and Duane Derksen, All-Americans Kirk Daubenspeck and Roy Schultz, three-time captain Gary Johnson and more.
The night will also include recognition of former Badger goalies in attendance.
As previously announced, the 75th season of UW men's hockey will honor many of those who have made an impact on the illustrious program throughout the season, including six games being chosen for special recognition.
Goalie Night is the second of these six special games to take place, with Skaters Night already occurring on Nov. 3.
The remaining games include Wisconsin Night on Friday, Dec. 8, NHL Night on Saturday, Feb. 3, Champions Night on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, March 1.
