Six current and two former Badgers set to skate for the United States
MADISON, Wis. – Two former and six current Badgers are set to represent the United States in the December games of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series, Team USA announced on Thursday.
Former Badgers Hilary Knight and Abby Roque will be joined by current UW student-athletes Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey, Kirsten Simms and Anna Wilgren as they represent Team USA in the series.
Curl, Eden, Edwards, Knight and Roque continue their time with the U.S. as they each skated in the November games of the series, while Simms will be making her U.S. Women's National Team debut. Harvey rejoins the squad after winning gold at the 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship, and Wilgren will make her return to the national team stage after participating in My Why Tour in 2021.
The Rivalry Series features multiple contests between long-time rivals USA and Canada, including two games in November, two in December and three in February. Team USA is up two games on Canada after grabbing both of the November contests.
The rivalry continues on Dec. 14 with a 7:00 p.m. CT puck drop at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario. The December stretch of the series will wrap up with a 4 p.m. CT showdown on Dec. 17 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario. Both games can be watched on the NHL Network.
