MADISON, Wis. – After backstopping Wisconsin to a sweep against Ohio State last weekend, senior Kyle McClellan has been named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The goaltender saved 29 shots on Friday night to earn his nation-leading third shutout of the season and allowed only one goal on 51 total shots over the two-game series for a weekend total .980 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average. 

The senior currently leads the nation in goals against average at 1.74 and ranks second with a .934 save percentage.

This is McClellan's third career Big Ten weekly honor and second of the 2023-24 season, earning third star honors on Oct. 10, 2023. 

The most recent Badger to receive a Big Ten Star of the Week was graduate student forward Owen Lindmark, who was named the Conference's third star on Nov. 7.

McClellan and the sixth-ranked Badgers play their final series of the fall semester against Penn State at the Kohl Center on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9. Puck drop for Friday's game is set for 8 p.m, while Saturday's contest will start at 7 p.m. Friday's game will air on BTN, while Saturday's game streams live on B1G+.
