
Wisconsin places fourth at Puerto Rico Classic

Badgers start spring season off strong
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — Starting off the spring season on a high note, Wisconsin men's golf carded a -22 (0-0-0=0) to place fourth at the 2023 Puerto Rico Classic. The team was led by senior Clayton Tribus, who tied for fifth place out of nearly 80 golfers.Â
Eight of the thirteen teams at the Puerto Rico Classic rank in the Golfstat top-50. Wisconsin ended up placing above five of those ranked teams, including state rival Marquette, and Big Ten familiars Ohio State and Purdue.

Tuesday, Feb. 14
Round 3
The Badgers completed the tournament with their best round yet, carding a 277 (-11) to end in fourth place. Tallying his lowest round yet as a Badger, Tribus shot a 67 (-5) with an impressive six birdies. He ended the tournament T5 with a -9. Cameron Huss also found a place in the top-10, T10 after shooting a -3 for a final score of -7. Also shooting a -3 in the third round, Coalter Smith finished with a -6 to T14. Maxime Legros carded an even par to complete the tournament with a +1 to T42, while Daniel Aas tallied a +2 to finish T65 with a +8.ÂMonday, Feb. 13
Round 2
Wisconsin shot a 283 (-5) in the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic, tying for fifth at the end of the day two on Monday. Eighteen birdies were recorded among the team in the round, with Huss tallying a team-leading five. Huss and Tribus led the way for the Badgers, each shooting a -3 to end the round T15. Smith completed the round with a -1 to T20 while Aas improved his first round score by two strokes to end day two with a +2 to T65. Legros rounded out the lineup for Wisconsin, recording a +3 to T48.ÂSunday, Feb. 12

The Badgers started off the spring season strong, tallying a 282 (-6) in round one of the Puerto Rico Classic to land them in third place out of 13 teams. Legros and Smith led the Badgers, each shooting a -2 to T10 with four birdies to get them below par. Right behind the two leaders were Huss and Tribus, also below par with a -1 to T19.
