Badgers suffer heart-breaking loss at Michigan

Wisconsin falls in overtime on the road
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Despite a career-high 24 points from Connor Essegian, Wisconsin suffered an 87-79 loss in overtime at Michigan on Sunday.
The Badgers kept chipping away at a 35-27 halftime deficit and eventually took a 61-59 lead on a driving layup by Max Klesmit with 3:06 remaining in regulation. There were two ties and three lead changes in the final 2:19, the last tie coming on Hunter Dickinson's buzzer-beating 3-pointer.
Leading 68-65 with seven seconds remaining in regulation, Kobe Bufkin had his shot blocked by Klesmit. On the ensuing out-of-bounds play, Dickinson hit a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime.
There were two ties and three lead changes early in overtime before Michigan took control with 10-0 run in which Bufkin and Dug McDaniel both scored four points.
The Wolverines outscored the Badgers, 19-11, in overtime to pull away with the victory.
In addition to Essegian's career day, Klesmit scored 19 points (5-of-8 3-point shooting) including 8 points in the second half alone with some big baskets down the stretch.
Steven Crowl scored 14 points, while Tyler Wahl had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Wisconsin hosts No. 5 Purdue on Thursday and finishes the regular season at Minnesota on Sunday.
