NEW ORLEANS, La. - Opening its spring break trip, the No. 16 Wisconsin women's tennis team took care of Rutgers, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon at the University of New Orleans to extend its win streak to nine.
The Badgers rolled past the Scarlet Knights in doubles as
Ava Markham and
Maria Sholokhova dominated their match 6-1, and
Alina Mukhortova and
Xinyu Cai won by a score of 6-2.
Ava Markham,
Xinyu Cai and
Charmaine Seah each secured singles points in straight sets to push Wisconsin's win streak. With nine straight wins, the Badgers are on their longest win streak since the 1995-96 season, where they recorded a program-best 11 straight wins.
Wisconsin will return to the court on Friday, March 17 at No. 9 Ohio State. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
