BRAMPTON, Ont. – Four current and two former Wisconsin women's hockey players led Team USA to gold at the 2023 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship thanks to a 6-3 victory over Canada in the gold medal game on Sunday.
Former Badger and Team USA captain, Hilary Knight, made history as she became the first player in Women's Worlds history to reach 100 career points after posting a hat trick in the thrilling win over Canada. She was named Team USA's player of the game as she captured her ninth world championship gold medal.
Current Badgers Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Caroline Harvey and Nicole LaMantia joined alums Knight and Abby Roque as Team USA won its 10th world championship gold medal and first since 2019.
Harvey earned the directorate award as the tournament's best defender after posting 14 points in seven games on four goals and 10 assists, including the game-tying goal in the championship game. The Badger rookie led all tournament skaters in points and plus/minus with a rating of +14.
