Badgers draw road game against Friars on November 14
MADISON, Wis. — The Big Ten Conference and BIG EAST Conference announced on Wednesday the matchups for the 2023 Gavitt Tipoff Games, which will feature Wisconsin playing a road game at Providence on November 14.
This will mark the sixth all-time meeting between the Badgers and the Friars, and the second time that the two have faced off in the Gavitt Games. The two programs most recently played at the Kohl Center in 2021, the last time UW participated in the Gavitt Games.
Tip time and television information for this year's Gavitt Games will be announced at a later date, with games appearing on FS1 or Big Ten Network.
2023 Gavitt Tipoff Games Matchups
Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard holds an 8-5 all-time record against teams from the BIG EAST, including NCAA tournament wins over No. 1 overall seed Villanova in 2017 and Xavier in 2016, plus road wins at Marquette (2022) and at Xavier (2018).
The eighth-annual Gavitt Games, which began in 2015, is a unique early-season series played on campus home courts between the two conferences. The event is named in honor of Hall of Famer Dave Gavitt, founder of the BIG EAST and a basketball visionary.
This year's 2023 Gavitt Games include make-up games from the Gavitt Games canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
