MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team (5-1-2) pulled off a great win on Sunday against Marquette (2-4-1) at the McClimon Soccer Complex. The Badgers scored a late goal to extend their win streak to four games.

How it happened
The first half was an even competition between the Badgers and the Golden Eagles. There were no real goal scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes; however the tide turned in the 37th minute. Marquette goalkeeper Mikki Easter ran out of her box to clear the ball, and was called for an intentional handball. She was assessed a red card for preventing a goal scoring opportunity. Heading into the half the score was 0-0.
Â
It was all pressure by the Badgers in the second half. The team took advantage of being a player up and spent the majority of the half on the attack. Goalkeeper Erin McKinney and the Wisconsin back line controlled the pace, with McKinney only being forced to make one save the entire game.
Â
The deadlock broke in the 79th minute off a goal from Izzy Verdugo. Emma Jaskaniec drove to the endline and played in a lofted cross that Verdugo headed at the back post to give the Badgers the win. It is Jaskaniec's third assist of the season and Verdugo's second-career goal.
Straight from the Pitch – Izzy Verdugo
"I'm excited - that was a battle. Emma J put in an awesome ball, and I was just lucky to be right there. We are excited. We needed that going into conference play".
