UW takes on Mercer for 'March to McClimon' game

MADISON, Wis. – No. 21 Wisconsin men's soccer returns home this Friday to face the Mercer Bears (3-1) at 7 p.m. in UW's annual 'March to McClimon' game.
Here's what you need to know.
1 – Home Heroes – Wisconsin is currently 3-0 in home games to start the season, with a goal differential of four to none in those games. They are one of two Big Ten teams to have not allowed a goal at home this season.
2 – Nationally Ranked – For the first time since the 2018 preseason polls, Wisconsin men's soccer owns a national ranking. With a 3-1 record that includes a victory over then-No. 2 Kentucky, the Badgers were ranked No. 21 by the United Soccer Coaches and No. 15 by Top Drawer Soccer.
3 – Drew's and Dryden's Distinctions – Two Badger players, Drew Brown and Mitchell Dryden, both earned honors for their winning performances against second-ranked Kentucky last week. Brown made Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week as a defender, while Dryden made College Soccer News' Team of the Week as a forward.
4 – Da Bears – This is the first time UW will play the Mercer Bears in program history. Mercer owns a 3-1 record to start the season, winning three straight after losing their opener against Cal State Fullerton. Keeper Trevor McMullen subbed in late that game and has yet to concede a goal for the season.
5 – 'March to McClimon' – Friday is UW's 'March to McClimon' game. Games, prizes and food will all be available for fans at Dejope Residence Hall beginning at 5 p.m., with the first 200 students to show up earning a t-shirt. Head Coach Neil Jones will then speak at 5:45 before fans can march up to the home field together at 6 p.m.
Up Next – The Badgers travel east to face in-state rival Marquette on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.. The Golden Eagles are 4-0 to start the season, and have scored the second most team goals in the NCAA with thirteen. UW fairs better in the annual matchup with an all-time record of 23-15-8. Wisconsin also won last year's matchup, as well as five of the last six season's.
