Kenny Guiton joins the Badgers' staff after three seasons at Arkansas
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin football officially announced the hiring of new wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton on Friday. Guiton, who spent the past three seasons in the same role at Arkansas, returns to the Big Ten having played quarterback at Ohio State from 2009 to 2013.
Â
"We're thrilled to add Kenny to our staff," head coach Luke Fickell said. "I've known him since he was eighteen and watched him mature as a player and as a coach. His success as a coach identifying, recruiting, and developing players for the next level and his offensive acumen will be great additions to our offensive room."
Â
Guiton has made stops as a wide receivers coach at Houston (2017-18), Louisiana Tech (2019), Colorado State (2020) and Arkansas (2021-23) and also served as the interim offensive coordinator this season at Arkansas to close out the 2023 season.
Â
"I'm thankful to be joining Coach Fickell's staff at Wisconsin," said Guiton. "Wisconsin has a tradition of developing great football players and people, and I'm honored to be a Badger. I'm excited to get to work with a group of coaches that match my beliefs and values as a coach, and to work with an offensive system that I have experience with."
Â
As interim offensive coordinator this season at Arkansas, Guiton helped the Razorbacks' offense tally 450+ total yards in two of the final four games of 2023. That included a 39-36 shootout victory over Florida on Nov. 4 that saw Arkansas rush for 226 yards and throw for 255. Arkansas went on to total a season-high 510 total yards in a win over Florida International on Nov. 18.
Â
Guiton has been praised as an excellent recruiter and was named to 247Sports' "30 Under 30" as one of the nation's top young assistant coaches in 2020 during his stint at Colorado State.Â
Â
Guiton guided the wide receivers at Louisiana Tech in 2019, helping the Bulldogs to a 10-3 record and a win over Miami (Fla.) in the Walk On's Independence Bowl. He tutored one of the best receiving corps in Conference USA as the team had the fourth-best passing offense in the league.
Â
He spent 2017-18 as the wide receiver coach at Houston. The Cougars ranked fifth nationally in scoring (43.9 ppg), seventh in total offense (512.5 ypg) and 16th in passing offense (295.5 ypg). Houston scored 30+ points in all 12 regular season games and 40+ in 10 of those games.
Â
Guiton played quarterback at Ohio State from 2009-13, appearing in 22 games while throwing for 893 yards and 16 touchdowns. As a senior, he started two games and played in eight total, completing 69% of his passes and tossing 14 touchdowns for the 12-2 Buckeyes. In his second career start, he set a program-record with six first-half touchdown passes against Florida A&M.
Â
"Having played in the conference, I know the significance of Big Ten football," said Guiton. "I'll be lucky to represent such a great fanbase and program at Wisconsin. I can't wait to get to work."
