HAMPTON, Va. – No. 17 Wisconsin travels to the 2024 Virginia Duals held at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia on Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13.
One of the nation's great historic tournaments, the Badgers will wrestle No. 21 Oklahoma on Friday at 2 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET and Virginia on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT/1:30 p.m. ET. Both dual matches will be streamed live on FloWrestling and live stats shared on TrackWrestling.

Here’s six more notes to pin:
1. Last Time Out:
Led by champions Dean Hamiti (165) and Shane Liegel (184), Wisconsin placed second overall to earn its highest finish since 2010 competing in the 2023 Midlands Championships, considered one of the nation’s premier collegiate wrestling tournaments.
Wisconsin tied its best finish in school and tournament history with the silver-medal performance and earned 104.5 points in the team standings, while 17 Badgers competed overall across all 10 weight classes.

2. Scouting the Sooners:
Oklahoma placed second at the Southern Scuffle on Jan. 2 with two champs and 13 placewinners.
Stephen Buchanan (197) and Josh Heindselman (285) combined for 8-0 records.

3. Scouting the Cavalier (aka Hoos):
Virginia split a pair of duals on Jan. 6, winning 22-19 over Gardner-Webb and losing 18-17 to George Mason.
Justin McCoy (174) won both matches with bonus-points, while Ryan Catka (285) also won both matches.
Kyren Butler’s win gave the 141-pounder his first win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season. Read the Hoos duals recap here.
4. In the polls
Five Badgers now earn national rankings in the latest Intermat poll, while the team earned its highest nod so far this season at No. 17 in team rankings by Intermat. The Badgers are receiving votes in this week's poll for the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Senior Eric Barnett (125) is ranked fourth for his highest mark so far this season, while teammate Shane Liegel (184) joined the Badgers' ranked core of wrestlers following his first-place performance at the Midlands Championships.

Wisconsin will begin the Big Ten dual match season at home on Sunday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at the UW Field House against Ohio State. The Badgers also celebrate Team Youth Day!
