The Badgers walk away from Evanston with a point
EVANSTON, Ill. — The Wisconsin men's soccer team (6-4-2, 1-4-2 Big Ten) collected a conference point in a 0-0 tie to the Northwestern Wildcats (7-5-1, 1-4-1 Big Ten) on Tuesday.
How it happened
The Badgers opened the game with a dangerous scoring chance within the first 10 minutes of the contest. Matthew Zachemski sent a curling corner into the box and Ryan Quintos' goal-bound header was saved by a diving Wildcat goalkeeper.
The Badgers generated two more shots on goal in the first half, but the Northwestern goalkeeper answered all the scoring attempts to send the game into the half scoreless.
Wisconsin fended off Northwestern attempts time and time again in the second half, but turned around some of those rushes into counterattacks of their own.
The Badgers had a Grade-A scoring opportunity late in the game on a corner kick, but officials shut the play down because Wisconsin committed a foul. The game ended 0-0 with the Badgers leading the game in shots on goal three to one.
