Take your mark: Badgers pack the pool vs Minnesota

Wisconsin set to host Border Battle

MADISON, Wis. — After a week off, the Wisconsin swimming and diving teams will host a dual meet against Minnesota on Friday evening, as they look to pack the pool and set a new attendance record at Soderholm. Diving is set to begin at 5 p.m., swimming starts at 5:30 p.m. and doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Before the Badgers dive in, here are five things to know:

1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers traveled to Michigan as the men competed in a two-day dual meet against the Wolverines and women competed in a triple-dual against Michigan and Notre Dame. Michigan took down the Badgers 261-90. The men collected two first place finishes, as Ben Weigand came in first in the 100 breast with a time of 55.19. The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Taiko Terepe-Ormsby, Ben Weigand, Chris Morris and Sam Lorenz, also finished in first with a time of 1:20.47. On the women's side, the Badgers topped Notre Dame 223-118, but fell to the Wolverines 238-115. Phoebe Bacon won three of her four events, winning the 200 IM (1:58.50), 200 fly (1:57.37) and the 200 back (1:55.61). Maddie Waggoner secured a first place finish in the 1000 free with a time 9:54.36.

2. PACK THE POOL: The Badgers will look to pack the pool against the Gophers and break the attendance record at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center. The first 200 fans will receive a free T-shirt. Kyle Sockwell and his team will be featuring the meet on their platform.

3. NCAA TICKET PUNCHED: En route to her eighth swimmer of the week award in her college career, graduate student Phoebe Bacon picked up three NCAA "B" cuts in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 200 back. Bacon is a 2021 and 2024 NCAA Champion in the 200 back. She also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 200 back, finishing in fifth and fourth respectively.

4. DIVING RIGHT IN: Over the weekend, freshman Jaden Eikermann made his mark in the diving well finishing in first place on the 10-meter platform with 339.20 points. For the women, Molly Hampton also grabbed a first place finish on the 10-meter, scoring 220.60 points.
