MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's hockey co-captains
Casey O'Brien and
Caroline Harvey earned WCHA weekly awards for the second-straight week after two more strong performances against Boston College, the WCHA announced Monday.
O'Brien and Harvey received the WCHA Forward of the Week and Defender of the Week honors, respectively.
That's their second straight weekly awards for their respective positions. Last week, O'Brien was also
named WCHA Forward of the Month.
In the two-game series against Boston College, O'Brien tied for first in the WCHA in terms of goals (3) and goals per game (1.50). O'Brien led the WCHA through the two games in points (7) and points per game (3.50). The Wisconsin co-captain shared the lead for assists (4) and assists per game (2.00) alongside fellow Badger
Kelly Gorbatenko.
O'Brien currently leads the WCHA with 10 total assists and 2.50 assists per game. She's also tied for first with teammate
Lacey Eden for goals with each Badger scoring five on the season thus far.
The seven points against Boston College also pushed the Milton, Massachusetts, native past a major career milestone, now totaling 201 career points.
Harvey led all WCHA defenders last week with two goals. The Badgers co-captain also led the WCHA through the two games with three points and 1.50 points per game. On top of that, Harvey added her first power play goal of the season.
Through four games, Harvey is second in the WCHA in plus/minus with 14, behind only Gorbatenko with 15. Harvey is fifth and the first defender in the WCHA in terms of points and points per game, behind four Wisconsin forwards.
O'Brien, Harvey and the No. 1 Badgers host No. 3 Minnesota Duluth this Saturday and Sunday at LaBahn Arena. Both games, which are sold out, start at 2 p.m. Fans can watch the action on B1G+ or listen on 1070 The Game.
