Edwards named to Forbes’ 2025 North America 30 Athletes Under 30 List

Junior honored for contributions to Badgers, Team USA
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's hockey junior Laila Edwards was named to the 2025 North America 30 Athletes under 30 list, Forbes announced on Tuesday.
The junior out of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, has been with the Badgers since her rookie season and has made significant contributions to Team USA.
Edwards became the first Black woman to play at the senior level for Team USA in 2023. In the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship, she helped the U.S. to silver, notching six goals and two assists. She also earned MVP, becoming the youngest non-goalie MVP in tournament history.
Apart from national play, Edwards has consistently contributed to the Badgers. She leads the team and WCHA this year with 17 goals, ranking her second nationally. She's coming off a sophomore season where she posted a career-high 56 points on 21 goals and 35 assists.
In her rookie season, Edwards helped the Badgers to a national championship, recording 27 points on 13 goals and 14 assists and appearing in all 41 games.
She's picked up multiple accolades in her college career, including being a WCHA Rookie of the Year Finalist and a member of the 2024 WCHA Final Faceoff All-Tournament Team. She also made the 2023 NCAA All-Tournament Team for her contributions to the Badgers National Championship run.
