McNaughton, Edwards, Harvey pick up monthly WCHA awards

<strong>MADISON, Wis. – </strong>Three Wisconsin women's hockey players received WCHA Players of the Month honors for November, the WCHA announced Wednesday.<br />  <br /> Ava McNaughton received Goaltender of the Month, Laila Edwards received Forward of the Month and Caroline Harvey was named Defender of the Month. <p>McNaughton, who also earned WCHA Goaltender of the Month honors in October, led all WCHA goalies with 6 wins and 2 shutouts in November. Her 1.20 goals-against average and .956 save percentage ranked second among all league goalies. On the season, McNaughton is tied for the lead nationally and leads the WCHA in shutouts with five. The Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, native has a save percentage of 0.952 this season, enough to lead the WCHA and coming in second nationally. The sophomore's goals-against average of 1.087 is likewise the best in the WCHA and second-best nationally. McNaughton is the winningest goaltender in both the WCHA and NCAA with a win percentage of 0.941.<br /> <br /> Edwards led all WCHA skaters with 17 points in November thanks to 7 goals and 10 assists. Her 7 goals were tied for the league lead with teammate Kirsten Simms while her 10 assists ranked second behind linemate Casey O'Brien. Her +15 plus/minus was the second-best mark in the month. She's second in the league in points behind only O'Brien. Out of eight games in November, Edwards posted six multi-point games, including three clutch assists in the Badgers win over Ohio State on Nov. 15. The Forbes 30 Athletes under 30 selection also leads the WCHA with four game winning goals this year, which ranks second in the NCAA. <br /> <br /> The reigning WCHA Defender of the Month, Harvey recorded 15 points to lead all blueliners in November. She became the fifth defender in school history to record 100 career points. Her +15 plus/minus rating was the second-best mark in the month, trailing only fellow Badger Vivian Jungels. The Badger co-captain recorded a point in seven out of the eight November matchups. The Salem, New Hampshire, native posted five multi-point games in November, including one three-point game and one four-point game. </p>  <br /> Make sure to follow Harvey, Edwards, McNaughton and the Badgers as they close out 2024 calendar year play against Minnesota State on Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minnesota.
