MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin softball team (13-21, 2-6) lost their second game against Rutgers in a decisive 12-1 defeat. Wisconsin's loss comes off the back of a 5-2 win during the series opener. The game was aired on the Big Ten Network in the first of three such games for the Badgers.
How It Happened:
Rutgers was in the driver's seat early, accumulating 11 runs in the first two innings of the game.

Shelby Jacobson got the first two outs of the inning, before surrendering a solo home run, and then a grand slam.

Hilary Blomberg came into relief in the second inning, giving up three runs on four hits, before a three-run home run brought Rutger's score up to 11.

Rutgers would go on to score once more in the fourth inning, with game ending via run-rule in the fifth.

The Badgers tallied just two hits for the game, with
Fiona Girardot driving in the team's only run with a third-inning sac-fly.

Jacobson, 2-10, was charged with the loss, going 1.1 innings, allowing 7 earned runs and three home runs.

Blomberg worked 2.2 innings of relief, allowing five earned runs, and collecting the only strikeout for the Badgers pitching staff.

Batting Cleanup
- Brooke Kuffel went 1-for-2 and scored the only run for the Badgers. She is now 3-for-7 in her last four games.
- Fiona Girardot drove in the only run for the Badgers. It was her fourth career RBI against the team.
- Hilary Blomberg's 2.2 innings pitched is a new career high for the freshman.
