Bagders on their way to the conference championship
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's lightweight rowing will compete at the Eastern Sprints for their conference championship on Lake Quinsigamond, Sunday, May 5.
Before the Badgers hit the water, here are f(oar) things to know:
1 - HOW TO FOLLOW ALONG: The Badgers take on rivals Princeton, Radcliffe, Boston University and Georgetown, among others, at this year's Eastern Sprints.
Racing for the lightweights begins at 11 a.m. CT with the women's lightweight third varsity eight grand final.

2. FINAL COUNTDOWN: Following Eastern Sprints, there are only two races left in the spring season. UW heads to the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on the Cooper RIver in Pennsauken, NJ., happening May 10 and 11. The event is named after former Badger men's rowing coach Henry 'Dad' Vail, who led UW between 1911 and 1928.
UW also competes at the 2024 IRA National Championships from May 31-June 2.
3. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin last raced against Stanford on Lake Mendota, along the northwest shore past Mendota Country Park on Saturday, April 20. UW dropped all three races to the Cardinal in early-season racing.
Last time at Eastern Sprints, Wisconsin showed progress in closing in on the other team's times, but placed fifth in the eight, as well as four in the four and double.
4. CURRENT RANKINGS:Â The Badgers are ranked sixth in varsity eight behind Princeton, Harvard-Radcliffe, Boston University, Stanford and Georgetown. UW ranks fifth in the lightweight varsity four, behind Stanford, Princeton, Boston University and Harvard-Radcliffe. Finally, UW sits fifth in the lightweight varsity double behind Princeton, Boston University, Stanford and Oklahoma City.Â
