MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team opened spring dual action with a 7-0 win over DePaul. The Badgers quickly claimed the doubles point and went on to secure six convincing singles victories in the match win.Â
In doubles action, the No. 1 pair of Oliver Olsson and Tomas Zlatohlavek combined to win 6-4, and Matthew Fullerton and Patrik Meszaros combined to win the Badgers the doubles point, defeating DePaul's No. 2 pair, 6-3.
After earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for posting a 3-0 singles record at the FAU Invite last weekend, Edouard Aubert stayed hot, winning 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles. Fellow freshman Sachiv Kumar also won in straight sets, claiming a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.Â
At No. 2, Tomas Zlatohlavek claimed a two-set victory, defeating DePaul's Mateo Iaquinto, 6-2, 7-6. Wisconsin veteran Michael Minasyan won at No. 1, rallying after dropping the first set to claim the second and third, 6-0 and 8-3, respectively.Â
The Badgers improved to 23-2 versus the Blue Demons in the all-time series.
