MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's tennis team will head out east to open up regular season play against Arizona State and North Carolina. They will match up with Arizona State on Saturday, Jan. 25th at 2 p.m., and play Sunday, Jan. 26th at 9 p.m. or 1 p.m.  

SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS: The Sun Devils are led by first year head coach Jamea Jackson who is coming off an impressive run as the coach of the Princeton Tigers in which she was named the 2024 Ivy League Coach of The Year. Their top singles player is Ada Piestrzynska, who enters play as #98 in the ITA singles rankings.

BADGERS IN THE RANKINGS: The Badgers open up their regular season unranked by the ITA, but have the third ranked singles player in the nation, Maria Sholokhova. The Badgers also have the eighth ranked doubles team in the nation with Maria Sholokhova and Alina Mukhortova.

THE LAST SERVE: The Badgers played in the UT Invitational from Jan.10-12. It was a pre-season round robin tournament in which they faced off against Texas and San Diego. The Badgers had a solid performance finishing the tournament with an overall record of 14-15. Maria Sholokhova showed out, going 3-0 in singles matches including back-to-back wins over ranked opponents.

UP NEXT: The team hosts its home-opener at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium against Northern Illinois and Milwaukee next week Jan. 31. They will play Northern Illinois at 12 p.m. and Milwaukee at 5 p.m.
