CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Wisconsin secured their first team win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating the No. 20 Arizona State Sun Devils, 4-2.
How it Happened
The day began with three doubles matchups in which the Badgers went 1-2, yielding a point to the Sun Devils. Taylor Cataldi and Ellison Reynoldson were able to pick up the sole victory, 6-4.
After giving up a point in doubles, the Badgers looked to bounce back in their singles matchups. They were able to respond in a big way with Maria Sholokhova, Taylor Cataldi, and Ellison Reynoldson all winning in straight sets taking a commanding 3-1 lead.
Things began to tighten up after the Sun Devils battled back, winning one of the matchups to make the score 3-2. Just as the Sun Devils were getting momentum back, Ariel Johnson shut the door. She clinched the victory for the Badgers in a thrilling, three set match, winning 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.
