MADISON, Wis. – Freshman
Yoav Romano of Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the Big Ten on Wednesday afternoon.Â
The freshman had an impressive showing in California last weekend in a dual with UC San Diego, tabbing first-place finishes in all three of his events. The Israel native earned first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:37.70. Romano also took home first in the 500 freestyle, finishing with a time of 4:23.90, beating out second place by almost eight seconds.Â
Finally, Romano finished out his day as a member of the Wisconsin A winning relay in the 400 freestyle relay. Romano was the second leg, with a split of 44.96.
This marks the freshman's first award. Up next, the Badgers will return to Soderholm to welcome Northwestern for Senior Day. The meet is set to start at 12 p.m. CST.Â
