MADISON, Wis. - Following a historic weekend on the ITA stage, Wisconsin women's tennis swept the Big Ten's weekly awards, with senior
Maria Sholokhova being named Big Ten Player of the Week and freshman
Lucie Urbanova selected as Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
On a 5-0 run in the main draw, the No. 37-ranked duo took down two top-10 ranked players in No. 3 Bennett/Bowers (6-4, 6-4) and No. 10 Broadfoot/Osuigwe (6-4, 6-4). The pair defeated No. 27 Gilheany/Nahum (6-3, 6-3) to earn the title of 2025 ITA All-American Doubles Champions.
Thanks to their title, they are the program's fourth doubles All-Americans and the first since Barbara Urbanska and Marjon Copier in 1998. Sholokhova is also the first athlete since Robin Anderson (UCLA, 2013–14) to capture both singles and doubles titles back-to-back.
For Urbanova, the honor marks the first Big Ten weekly award of her career, while the Badger veteran Sholokhova notches her fourth honor.
With their success, the pair became automatic qualifiers for the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships, taking place in Orlando, Florida, on Nov. 18–23, 2025.
