MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's cross country team secured a top-10 team finish at the 16th Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational presented by Under Armour on Friday at the Zimmer Championship Course.

Led by Liam Newhart, who crossed the line at 23:37.2 to place 16th overall, the Badgers totaled 272 points to finish ninth in a loaded championship field that featured 17 ranked programs. 

Joining Newhart in the scoring line up were Matan Ivri, clocking in at 34th with a time of 23:51.0 and Christian de Vaal snagging a 69th place finish in a time of 24:06.9. A pair of Badgers, Johnny Livingstone and Micah Wilson, finished in 76th and 77th respectively crossing the line at 24:11.6 and 24:13.1.

Rounding out the Badgers were Bryce Stachewicz in 85th with a time of 24:20.2, Archie Noakes in 147th with a time of 24:53.3 and Pierece Seigne in 203rd with a time of 25:56.5.

National powerhouse New Mexico took the team title with 51 points, followed by Colorado with 149 points and Syracuse in 152 to round out the top-3. Habtom Samuel for New Mexico took home the individual title with a time of 22:58.0.2

In the "B" race, Manny Putz led the way for Wisconsin's unattached runners, finishing 34th with a time of 25:02.6, followed closely by Joe Brezenger in 39th with a time of 25:11.4 and Cillian Gleeson in 42nd with a time of 25:14.3.

"Today showed that we have a long way to go. Luckily it's still the middle of October and we have a couple of weeks before championship season begins. We need to be better and we will be better."

Up Next: The Badgers will turn their attention to postseason racing as UW will head to East Lansing, Michigan, on Friday, Oct. 31 for the 2025 Big Ten Cross Country Championships. Racing will begin at 9:35 a.m. CT as UW has won the last seven Big Ten team crowns.
