MADISON, Wis. - The No. 7 Wisconsin women's volleyball team is back in action this weekend, as they will take on a pair of road tests between No. 19 Penn State on Friday, Oct. 10 at 6:00 p.m. CT and Maryland on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1:00 p.m. CT.
Both matches this weekend will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
The Badgers (11-1, 4-0) enter the weekend with a perfect record in conference play, recently taking down Illinois (RV) and Michigan. UW has swept each of their Big Ten matches this season—marking four in a row.
Last Thursday, Wisconsin went on to defeat the Fighting Illini in straight sets (25-15, 25-16, 25-20) with the help of a couple of key runs en route to their third conference victory. The match was highlighted by an 11-0 burst by the Badgers to close set one, led by the likes of outside hitter Mimi Colyer and an efficient six kills and six blocks from middle blocker Carter Booth.
UW maintained the momentum in Sunday's match against the Wolverines, putting together another sweep (25-22, 25-22, 25-20) behind double-digit kill numbers turned in by outside hitter Una Vajagic and Colyer.
Setter Addy Horner earned her second appearance at the setter position after an injury to sophomore Charlie Fuerbringer early on in Sunday's match. The freshman went on to tally 35 assists, in addition to seven digs, three blocks and a pair of service aces, all of which were career-bests for the Wheaton, Illinois, native entering this weekend.
Penn State (8-6, 2-2) is fresh off of a 1-1 showing in their past two matches, losing to No. 1 Nebraska in straight sets and defeating Maryland in five sets. The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series 50-16, but the Badgers have won six of the last seven matches—including a sweep last season at the UW Field House. UW enters the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record on the road.
Wisconsin will cap off the weekend against the Terrapins (7-7, 0-4), as the Badgers have swept the last four matches, highlighted by a dominant road win the last time they took on Maryland at the Stephen M. Schwandald Pavilion back in 2023.
After this weekend's action, UW will return home to face off against UCLA (RV) on Friday, Oct. 17. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
