Wisconsin opens day one at Texas Invitational

Badgers collect three top-10 times
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 20 Wisconsin Badgers men's swim team collected three top-10 finishes to cap off opening day competition at the Texas Invitational Tuesday evening.
In the 1650 freestyle, Yoav Romano picked up an NCAA qualifying time and a new personal record. The sophomore touched the wall in 14:54.42, breaking his previous time by just under 10 seconds, which he set last season at the Texas Invite. The time marks the fifth all-time at UW.
The Wisconsin A and B relay teams both notched top-10 all-time performances in the 200 medley. The crew of Welker, Henkel, Jones and Wiegand touched the wall in 1:24.82, the fifth all-time at UW. The Wisconsin B squad of Graham, Gaerthofner, Torok and Scharff finished with a time of 1:25.78 to break into eighth on the list.

The Badgers will continue competition tomorrow at both the Texas and Ohio State Invites. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. in Texas, with finals at 6 p.m. In Columbus, prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. and finals kick off at 5:30 p.m.
