Badger captain previously received award Oct. 13 and Nov. 3
MADISON, Wis - Â After helping her team sweep No. 15 St. Thomas this past weekend, Wisconsin women's hockey captain Caroline Harvey collected another WCHA Defender of the Week award, the conference announced on Monday.
The senior has now earned the distinction three times this season, previously winning on Oct. 13 and Nov. 3
The Badger tied for the lead among all WCHA skaters last week with six-points consisting of one goal and five assists. The bulk of those points came from a one goal, three assist performance in Wisconsin's 8-0 win over St. Thomas in game one. It was Harvey's seventh career four-point game.
In game two, she collected two more assists. Most notably, it was Harvey's shot that Kirsten Simms redirected into the net to tie the game up at 3-3 with just 1:26 remaining in regulation time. The Badgers went on to seal the 4-3 comeback victory with Cassie Hall scoring the game-winning goal in overtime.
With six points in the series, Harvey now has 167 career points, tying Ronda Curtin (Minnesota) for the most points by a defender in WCHA history.
In addition to Defender of the Week, Harvey was also named the HCA and WCHA Defender of the Month for October.
Harvey and the rest of the Badgers travel to Nashville this week for the Smashville Women's Hockey Collegiate Showcase. The team plays Mercyhurst on Saturday at 3 p.m., and Stonehill on Sunday at 12 p.m..
