Badger captain receives national recognition
MADISON, Wis - Badger captain Caroline Harvey was named Defender of the Month by the Hockey Commissioners Association, the organization announced on Thursday. Harvey achieves the national honor after being named WCHA Defender of the Month on Wednesday.
The organization expanded its pool of honorees this season, now awarding a forward, defender, goaltender and rookie of the month. This is the first group of HCA monthly honorees for the 2025-26 season, with Harvey previously winning HCA National Player of the Month in September and October of 2024.
The No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team went 8-1-0 in the month under Harvey's leadership, currently ranked number one in both the USCHO and USA Hockey national polls. The senior accumulated 13 points in nine games in October, recording at least one point in all but one game last month.
The New Hampshire native leads all defenders in the NCAA with 20 points in 12 games, that total is also third among all skaters. Harvey led all defenders with 63 points last season, breaking Wisconsin's single-season record for points. With 157 career points, Harvey is 10 points away from tying Ronda Curtin (Minnesota) for the most points by a defender in WCHA history.
Last season, Harvey was the 2024-25 WCHA Defender of the Year, an HCA First-Team All-American and Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Top-3 Finalist.
Harvey returns to Wisconsin after the team's bye week, next playing at St. Cloud State on Nov. 14 and 15.
