
Badgers outpace San Diego, 74-46

Over 3,000 local students were in attendance for Education Day
UW had a season-high in attendance with over 3,000 students from local elementary and middle schools in the crowd.Â
Four Badgers scored in double-figures, led by Destiny Howell's 14 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting. Shay Bollin had 11 points, primarily from the interior, while Gift Uchenna gave UW 10 points off the bench. Ronnie Porter rounded out the Badger double-digit scorers, posting 10 points on a season-high two three-pointers.Â
Wisconsin opened the contest on a 12-6 run, seeing five Badgers score early baskets. They used another big spurt to close the half, scoring 10-unanswered points thanks to three-pointers from Destiny Howell and Kyrah Daniels. Howell and Ronnie Porter finished the period with a quarter-high 5 points each.Â
The two sides traded baskets in a near-even second-quarter as Bucky took a 35-24 lead into the interval. Bollin had a dominant half inside, scoring 9 points and grabbing 3 boards. Â
Wisconsin kept their momentum out of the break, scoring 15 straight points after forcing a turnover on five of San Diego's opening possessions. The Badger defense held the Toreros without a field goal for the first eight minutes of the third quarter, blowing the game open for Bucky.Â
Wisconsin finished 16-of-19 from the free throw line, setting a season-high in makes from the charity stripe. Kyrah Daniels led the Badger defensive effort with a career-high five steals, adding 8 points on two three-pointers, as well.
Wisconsin shot 38.5% (25-26) from the field, 25.8% (8-31) from three, and 84.2% (16-19) at the free throw line.Â

Defensively, the Badgers held San Diego to 38.6% (17-44) from the field, 50.0% (5-10) from beyond the arc, and 53.8% at the charity stripe.
