Two Badgers earn WCHA awards
Captain Caroline Harvey was awarded the WCHA Defender of the Week award after a two-goal and two-assist weekend. In Friday's game, Harvey had a game-winning breakaway goal that led the Badgers to a 2-1 win. In the second game of the series she responded with another breakaway goal that served as the game-winner in UW's 6-1 victory. She is up to 41 points on the season now in 20 games, leading the country in that category.
This is Harvey's fourth time earning the award this season, and the third consecutive. The senior was also recently named as WCHA Defender of the Month and HCA Defender of the Month for November.
Ava McNaughton was awarded the WCHA Goaltender of the Week honor from her performance this weekend. McNaughton made 60 saves in the Ohio State matchup, with 25 saves in game one and 35 in game two - all while only allowing one goal in each contest. McNaughton's 35 saves in game two are the second-most in her career, and the most she's ever saved while only allowing one goal or less.
The junior goaltender has six shutouts so far in the first half of the season, and her 1.27 goals against average is the second lowest in the country. Last season, McNaughton was the 2024-25 HCA Goaltender of the Year and WCHA Goaltender of the Year Finalist.
Harvey and McNaughton will represent the United States in the final two games of the 2025 Rivalry Series against Team Canada, playing this week in Edmonton on December 10 and 13.
