CHICAGO - The Wisconsin women's track and field team secured three first-place finishes and a pair of new marks in UW's Indoor Track top-10 history in day one of the Wisconsin Windy City Invite at Gately Stadium.
Emma Kelley put together one of the top individual performances of the day—turning in her quickest 800 meters time of the season at two minutes, 4.36 seconds. Kelley broke her own personal best and remains at No. 2 in the top-10 at UW in the event.
Mya Bunke capped off the night with a 4:38.64 mile, inserting herself in a tie for eighth place all-time in Wisconsin's Indoor Track history—finishing in third on Friday night.
Kiley Robbins and Chloe Lindeman, two of the most experienced Badgers on the roster, continued to dominate their individual events. They each took first in the Windy City once again—extending a successful final season.
Robbins defeated 43 other competitors in the 60 Meter dash, taking first in both the prelims and the finals on her way to gold. She covered the distance in 7.28 seconds, only 0.06 seconds off of her personal best, which stands as a school record.
On the other hand, Lindeman dominated the weight throw with a heave of 76-3 (23.24m). The Fulton, Illinois native now ranks at No. 2 in the Big Ten this season with the highest mark in the weight throw to date. Taylor Kesner followed closely behind—securing a second-place finish in the process.
Karina Janik, Elissa Perkins and Julia Moore each tallied top-5 finishes to cap off an eventful first day of action in Chicago. Janik finished with a season best in the 600 meters, while Moore earned a season best in the pole vault.
Up Next: The Badgers are back at it Saturday morning at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite, as the meet is set to resume at 10:00 a.m. CT at Gately Stadium.
