Badgers Wrap Up Successful Weekend in Chicago

Saturday is marked by wins from Andrew Casey and Jason Swarens
CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men's track and field team wrapped up a weekend full of competition with a couple wins and top-10 finishes at the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational.
Andrew Casey started strong for the Badgers, winning the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.77. Junior Giovanni Wearing followed up with a stellar performance of 7.83 seconds in the semifinals of the hurdles, advancing to the finals where he ran 7.74 seconds and finished fourth.
In the shot put invitational, Jason Swarens claimed victory with a throw of 64 feet, 1 inch (19.53m), while Joseph White and Andrew Stone topped off the top-3 with throws of 61-2 ¼ (18.65m) and 60-7 ¼ (18.47m) respectively. Kyle Clabough rounded out the Badgers' throws with a seventh0place finish.
The 3000-meter invitational featured six Badgers, three of which competed at the NCAA cross country championships. The race saw St. Charles, Illinois, native Bob Liking finished second with a time of 7:54.28. Archie Noakes rounded out the top-3 with a personal record of 7:57.40 while Micah Wilson wrapped up the top-5 with a personal record of 7:58.79. Sophomore Logan Measner crossed the line in seventh with a personal best of 7:59.99, followed by freshman Liam Newhart who finished the race in ninth with a personal record of 8:02.69.
The 4x400 meter relay team, featuring Jalen Williams, Giovanni Wearing, Andrew Casey and Patrick Hilby finished sixth with a time of 3:14.00 to cap off a successful meet for the Badgers.
Up Next: The Badgers split up for meets in Notre Dame, Indiana and Normal, Illinois. The Red Bird tune up will take place on Feb. 21 while the Alex Wilson Invite will occur on Feb. 22.
