
McNaughton picks up WCHA weekly honor

Sophomore netminder earns third weekly honor of season
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's hockey sophomore Ava McNaughton earned WCHA  Goaltender of the Week honors after playing a significant role in the Badgers two wins against No. 6 Minnesota Duluth this past weekend, the organization announced Monday.
This marks McNaughton's growing lists of accolades, including third weekly WCHA award. The netminder has also been recognized twice as WCHA Goaltender of the Month and once as HCAÂ Goaltender of the Month.
With two full games between the pipes this weekend, McNaughton led the WCHA with 0.96 goals against average. The Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, native ranked second overall in the save percentage and led the league in save percentage among goaltenders with two games played this weekend. McNaughton stopped 53 of 55 shots in both games for a save percentage of 0.964.
McNaughton leads the WCHA this season with 1.16 goals against average with an impressive margin over second-best Hailey MacLeod's 1.69 goals against average. The sophomore also leads the league with a .949 save percentage. McNaughton leads the nation in winning percentage, was second nationally in save percentage and is tied for second in the nation with seven shutouts.
McNaughton and the top-ranked Badgers return to LaBahn Arena for their last regular season home series for a border battle against No. 3 Minnesota. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
