MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Badgers overpowered the Michigan State Spartans, 25-12, on Sunday, Feb. 9.Â
The Badgers had a decisive win, earning seven out of the ten matches they wrestled. This is Wisconsin's first win of the 2024-25 Big Ten Conference season and first win at home.Â
The biggest wins of the day came from Cody Goebel (165) and Wyatt Ingham (197).
Cody Goebel had an exciting SV-1 win over Jay Nivison and achieved a 4-1 final score (165).
True freshman Wyatt Ingham upset No. 25 Remy Cotton, with a comeback 14-12 decision. "I think our fans saw a little glimpse of the future at 197," said coach Chris Bono.Â
Wisconsin's ranked wrestlers, No. 17 Nicolar Rivera and No. 14 Zan Fugitt, also picked up wins.Â
Coach Bono was proud of the team's performance, "The team has stayed true to the mission through a bunch of adversity this season! We are excited to keep pushing forward!"
