MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's tennis upset effort fell short against No. 17 Michigan on Sunday. The Badgers started hot, claiming the doubles point and a 3-1 lead. In the end, the Wolverine's resilience was too much to overcome.    

The Badgers continued their domination in doubles action this weekend. The No. 1 partnership of Oliver Olsson and Tomas Zlatohlavek set the tone early with a commanding 6-1 victory over Michigan's Gavin Young and Alex Cairo. The sophomore duo is an impressive 9-3 on the season and undefeated in Big Ten play. The matches at both the No. 2 and 3 slots were tightly fought, but ultimately Wisconsin's Michael Minasyan and Patrik Meszaros prevailed at No. 2 to secure the 1-0 Badger lead. 

Edouard Aubert got things going in singles play, cruising to a straight set victory in the No. 5 slot. This marks the freshman's eighth win of the season, he is 3-1 in conference play. Junior Michael Minasyan controlled the court at No. 1 singles, defeating Michigan's Will Cooksey 6-4, 6-1. 

Michigan saw singles victories at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 to tie the match at 3-all. After forcing a third set to keep the match alive, Tomas Zlatohlavek fell to Michigan's Patorn Hanchaikul at No. 3 singles, sealing the Wolverine match victory.  

Wisconsin is now 0-4 in Big Ten play and 6-6 overall. 

Up Next: Wisconsin will go back on the road next weekend to face No. 4 Ohio State. The Badgers will face off against the Buckeyes at 5 p.m. CT in Columbus, Ohio.
