
Badgers open outdoor season at UCF

Select student-athletes head south to Florida
MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin men's track and field team will open their outdoor campaign this weekend in Florida, competing at the USF Alumni Invite on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. Field events begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. CT.

1. ROCKET RUNNING: Adam Spencer, Andrew Casey, Patrick Hilby, and Jalen Williams teamed up to secure an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay, recording a time of 9:23.08 and earning first-team All-American honors. Spencer followed up with another impressive performance in the 3000 meters, where he finished third with a time of 7 minutes, 52.71 seconds, adding another podium finish for the Badgers. The Melbourne, Australia, native collected his second All-America honor of the weekend.
2. NATIONAL STANDOUTS: In the men's weight throw, Kenosha, Wisconsin native Joseph White placed 10th with a mark of 72-4 ½ (22.06m), earning second-team All-American recognition. In the shot put, Jason Swarens delivered a stellar performance, taking third place with a massive throw of 66 feet, 11 ¼ inches (20.40m), setting a new school record and personal best. Swarens, from Terre Haute, Indiana, broke his own previous school record of 66-5 (20.24m). White also excelled in the shot put, securing seventh place with a throw of 63-2 ¾ inches (19.27m). This performance earned White his first career Division I first-team All-American honors and his second All-America recognition of the weekend, after being named a second-team All-American in the weight throw on Friday.
3. BACK ON THE TRACK: Select sprinters are set to make their outdoor season debut at the USF Alumni Invite, with Landon Gallun competing in the 100 meters and 200 meters, Elliott Harris taking on the 800m, and Big Ten 60-meter hurdles runner-up Giovanni Wearing returning to race in both the 400 meter hurdles and 110 meter hurdles.
4. WELCOME HOME: The Badgers will host the Badger Invite on Friday, May 2 at the McClimon Track and Field Complex, marking the team's only home meet of the season.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers split up for meets in Florida and California. Down south, Wisconsin will compete at the Hurricane Collegiate Invite, hosted by the University of Miami on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29. Out West, the Badgers will compete at the Mangrum Invite on Friday, March 28.
