UW drops Devon Park game to Michigan, 6-2
OKLAHOMA CITY. - The Wisconsin softball team (19-11, 3-3) fell in its first game against Michigan at Devon Park, losing to the Wolverines, 6-2.
Wisconsin played even with Michigan through the majority of the game, with the Badgers leading 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth. The Wolverines managed to push across five runs in the final two frames, however, securing their victory.
Defensive woes came back to bite Wisconsin, as the team committed five errors, two of which came in Michigan's three-run sixth inning that broke the game open.
Starter Gabi Salo held Michigan at bay for most of the game, giving up just one unearned run through 4.2 innings. Across Salo's 5.1 innings pitched, only three of her six runs allowed were earned. Salo takes the loss, with her record now 10-5.
Wisconsin's offense came from two solo home runs. Danielle Lucey's solo shot in the top of the third inning tied things up at 1-1. Later in the top of the fifth, Emily Bojan went yard to give Wisconsin the 2-1 edge.
