Wisconsin wraps up day one

The Badger men compete in one event

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Wisconsin men's swim team kicked off day one of the NCAA Championships with a 20th-place finish in the 200 medley relay. 

The relay team of Sam Lorenz, Ben Wiegand, Taiko Torepe-Ormsby and Cooper Scharff finished 20th with a time of 1:24.14. Texas won the event with a time of 1:20.28.

Competition resumes on Thursday with the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and the 200 freestyle relay. Freshman Yoav Romano will be competing in the 500, seeded 24th. Chris Morris will represent the Badgers in the 200 IM, seeded 19th. Taiko Torepe-Ormsby will compete in the first of his two events in the 50 freestyle, seeded 14th. The Badgers will finish the night in the 200 free relay. Prelims begin at 12 p.m. (CST) with finals at 8 p.m. (CST).
